- Course should be arranged to permit a safety zone behind the target at of least 50% of the distance being shot unless adequate barrier is present.
- There should also be a safety zone of 20 yards on each side of the target in the event of glance offs.
- All footpaths should be free of tripping and slipping hazards.
- There must be an emergency evacuation procedure posted at the starter's shack and tested monthly.
- Natural hazards such as bees nests, swampy ground, steep hills, etc. should be clearly marked and/or eliminated.
- Never allow competitors to look for arrows which missed the target until after the competition.
- During non-tournament shooting, if a lost arrow is sought, someone must remain at the target to let those approaching the station know that there are still archers on that target.
- All persons on the 3-D course, whether working or shooting, must have a current signed waiver on file with the course management.
